YONKERS — A Yonkers library worker accused of stealing $163,582 late
fees appeared in city court today to face a revised felony charge.

Margo Reed, 53, was arraigned on one count of second-degree grand
larceny for allegedly taking the money from the Yonkers Public Library
between Jan. 6, 2004 and Dec. 28, 2010.

She previously had faced two felony charges after her Dec. 10 arrest.
The initial charges dealt with the alleged theft of less than $50,000,
but officials had said the sum could be higher.

Reed, of 78-83 Highland Ave., worked in the library’s business office.
She was responsible for collecting overdue fines and other revenue
from the library’s three branches and and submitting them to the city
for deposit.

The alleged theft occurred at 20 River St. Police accuse Reed of
altering the library’s business records to hide the missing funds.

Her next court appearance is on June 8. She faces a maximum of 15
years in state prison if convicted.
