Bt50,000 offered for tip-off of stolen bead
The National Discovery Museum Institute is offering Bt50,000 cash prize for a tip-off about a stolen ancient bead.
Bearing the face of the sun god, the tiny bead carries much historical value.
It was stolen from an exhibition at the institute or Museum Siam on March 5.
“The piece is about 2,000 years old. It was discovered in Krabi,” the institute’s director Adm Thanit Kittiampon said Monday.
The one-centimetre-wide bead is made of glass mosaic.
Thanit said his institute had borrowed the bead from Sutee Ratana Foundation for “Bead and Beyond” exhibition, which has been open to the public since December 19 last year.
The exhibition is now being suspended.
