New Britain Police Request Help To Find Stolen Art –

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating three paintings stolen last month from an artist co-op.

Police said the works of art were stolen from a building at 66 West Main St. where artists display their artwork for sale. The artists display their pieces in the common hallway of the building, according to police.

On Feb. 11, two paintings were taken from the hallway during the day. One painting was of a haunted tree with skeletons walking around it and the other was a painting of a dragon. Both pieces were in black metal frames and are estimated to be worth $500 each.

A third painting was stolen during the night on Feb. 27. The painting, about 13 x 21 inches in size, depicted a winged creature on a mountain overlooking a village, police said. It was also in a black metal frame and valued at $500.

Anyone with information concerning the thefts is asked to contact Detective Jon Webster at 860-826-3039.
